MALVERN St James Girls’ School retained their under 11s district football title.

The tournament at Dyson Perrins Academy attracted 13 teams from 12 schools across the Worcestershire West area.

Malvern St James again won without conceding a goal after victories against Malvern Wyche (3-0), Eldersfield A (1-0), Kempsey (3-0) and Broadheath (3-0) helped them top the group.

A goalless semi-final saw Northleigh's keeper excel before St James won 2-1 on penalties.

More chances went begging in the final with Kempsey before another victory on spot-kicks.

Coach Ian Fry said: “Our girls played fantastically well in the group stages.

"The majority of the team are all new to playing football and I couldn’t be more proud of the way they played.

"We are delighted to be district champions for the second successive year and to again have the opportunity to represent our district at the county tournament in the new year.”
