MALVERN Radar lost 2-1 at higher-ranked Droitwich Spa Eagles in the Worcester Nursing Minor Cup first round.
Radar started strongly but could not apply the finishing touches in front of goal.
They then fell behind to the hosts' first real attack when the defence failed to deal with a free-kick and Adam Rea scored at the far post.
The second half saw Radar play most of the football but they suffered a second setback when a cross from the left was not dealt with and substitute Connor Shepherd swept the ball home.
However, from that moment on Radar played some of their best football of the season and Jake Norris reduced the arrears with an accurate swerving shot.
Chances fell to Adam Rushton, Keiran Smith and Andy Nolan who all shot straight at keeper Andy Harvey.
He was in fine form, stopping Ryan Scullion’s powerful header which was destined for the inside of the right-hand post.
The Malvern side can take great heart from their efforts in this game if not the result.
