LEDBURY Town returned to Herefordshire FA County League Premier Division’s top five with a 4-1 victory at Holme Lacy.

An own goal as well as strikes from Joe Bullock, Curt Williams and Dwayne Tyndale saw the visitors claim a convincing triumph.

But there was disappointment for Ledbury Town Reserves last weekend as they slumped to a 3-2 loss to Holme Lacy Reserves at New Street in Division One.

Nick Blakeway’s side made a strong start as captain Mark Taylor opened the scoring on eight minutes.

But disaster struck moments later when Sean Arrowsmith was shown a straight red for bringing down Holme Lacy’s last man.

With striker Luke Cox having to don the goalkeeper’s jersey, Ledbury fought on with 10 men.

Josh Burns slipped in a second towards the end of the first period which yielded many other goal-scoring opportunities for the hosts before the team in blue swiftly pulled one back five minutes from the interval.

Town then faced an uphill struggle as Holme Lacy began to capitalise on their extra man advantage over an increasingly tired-looking home squad, putting away two further goals to clinch the win.

Ledbury’s second string now have a second chance to secure a November home league win as they host Belmont Wanderers on Saturday (2.30pm).
