CHAIRMAN Steve Goode insists there are no plans to alter the way Worcester City runs despite “four or five” tentative offers of “help and assistance”.

Goode took over from Anthony Hampson when four Worcester City Supporters’ Trust-affiliated directors got appointed as club directors in August.

Earlier this month trust directors Mike Davis and Luke Cox were also appointed, joining the chair of the independent fans' group Dave Wood in serving on both boards.

Goode confirmed other parties had registered interest but explained “nobody has come in with anything that is going to make much difference to how we are running at the moment”.

“We have had interest but nothing like a takeover bid,” said Goode.

“We will talk to anyone that does want to get involved but there has been nothing concrete on anything yet.

“The first thing would be to bring up anything like this at a board meeting. We had one the other week and had nothing like that to discuss.

“The priority is to get back to Worcester and of course, Perdiswell is our number-one choice. That’s what we’re working on and all that’s happening at the moment.”

Goode politely declined to identify those who had come forward or specify what had been offered but added: “There is not just one, there are four or five (separate) people.

“I guess they want to get involved with helping towards what we are doing, I have had a lot of offers of help and assistance but you cannot just take anyone.

“Running a club like this, you have to be wary and if someone comes in with an offer then you have to discuss it at board level.

“It will be put on the agenda if it is worth talking about. Some of the things are not worth putting on the table because when you look into them it is not beneficial for the football club and more beneficial for the individual.

“There are people offering to do things but when you look and see what they are offering, you are not going to benefit much. It is more for their gain rather than ours.

“I have been involved with the club for almost 50 years. When my dad was chairman a lot of people would come forward and the board would turn them away, it is the same now.

“Not everyone realises how much is involved with running a club, a lot of people who come up with ideas don't necessarily back it up.

“We get a lot telling us what we should do but when we ask for help, they don’t have the time. That covers a lot of the offers we get.”
