MALVERN Town's on-song forward Joshua Hunt has joined Southern League side Cinderford Town after his brace in a commanding 4-0 victory over Shifnal Town.

Two goals from Harry Clark as well saw Town secure the West Midlands League Premier Division points at a soggy HDanywhere Community Stadium to go up to fifth.

Malvern co-manager Dene Whittal-Williams said of 28-goal Hunt: “He deserves the opportunity to play at a higher level.

"He has done really well for us and has a good attitude.”

After agreeing to join the mid-table Division One South outfit former Wellington striker Hunt said: "I would like to thank Malvern for the last 12 months that I have been at the club.

"It’s been an amazing journey. The board, the management and the boys have been first class.

"A great opportunity has arisen and I am looking forward to joining Cinderford."

Whittal-Williams said of the Shifnal game: “Overall it was a very pleasing performance in what were increasingly tricky conditions.

“We asserted early pressure and created a few half-chances before we finally broke the deadlock just before the break through Josh.

“We worked extremely hard throughout and didn’t allow our opponents to get into any real flow.

“As the game went on we continued to threaten through the attacking third with Hunt, Clark, (Matt) Fusco and (Louis) Loader linking up well and causing problems.

“Eventually our pressure told as Hunt was able to add a second goal to his tally and Harry also bagged a brace.

“The goals were all as a result of some pleasing play while Ethan Moran and Ben Lane both made positive contributions when they came on.

“It was also good to see us keep a second successive clean sheet which was well deserved for the hard work that the lads put in.”

Pershore Town remained second from bottom in the table after a 6-2 beating at 15th-placed Dudley Town.

Inkberrow continued their fine season in third place in Midland League Division Three with a 3-1 home win over FC Shush.

Tom Emblem and Ellis Kalach were among the scorers.

Meanwhile, Alvechurch and Redditch United are both in Southern League Premier Division Central action on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Fifth-placed Church welcome mid-table Leiston to Lye Meadow while sixth-from-bottom Redditch travel to Suffolk side Needham Market.
