A BUSY festive holiday season for Malvern Joggers culminated in a variety of race options.

The New Year's Eve off-road contest over around five miles was organised by Rogue Runs from Chepstow Leisure Centre.

Julie Caseley finished in 47 minutes 20 seconds for second women's veteran over 55 on the route which started in Piercefield Park and included sections of the Wye Valley Walk.

The New Year's Day 10k at Hereford around the picturesque country lanes of Breinton featured a mildly undulating route.

Simon Richardson flew around for 16th in 38.47, Ben Toon was 32nd in 43.14 and Claire Haynes clocked 46.56.

Andy Cambell ran 51.58, Ian Walwyn 52.12, Helen Reid 53.01, Helen Card 55.24, Shona Toon 1.02.49 and Viv Tolley 1.03.24.

The Croome Dirt Run 10k at Croome Court featured four Joggers with Ian Fuller doing 51.28, Warwick Taylor 53.33, Caseley 1.00.18 for third in her age category and Tracy Taylor 1.06.59.

Record numbers of runners tackled the Gloucester 10-mile road race but some of the lead runners, including Malvern Joggers' Henry Walker, were incorrectly directed during it, causing some to finish having only completed eight miles.

Meanwhile, category prizes were claimed by Malvern Vegan Runners in two New Year’s Day races.

In the Hereford 10k, Jonathan Herod was placed eighth overall and won the category for first male aged 40 to 45 with a personal best time of 37 minutes 31 seconds.

Bill Clayton was 24th and the first male in the 50 to 55 category, also with a PB of 41.07.

Lesley Ashton finished third in her women’s 55 to 59 category in 58.50.

Diane Wynne represented the group at Croome Park in the New Year’s Day 10k off-road race and attained first in her age category with official times still to be released.
