WING Perry Humphreys has earned a new two-year contract after producing “some outstanding rugby” for Worcester Warriors this season.

The 24-year-old back has notched 12 tries in 56 first-team appearances for Warriors since making the move from Leicester Tigers’ academy in 2014.

Humphreys can also play at full-back and that versatility has made him an important member of Alan Solomons’ squad this term.

“Pez is a very talented young player who has played some outstanding rugby this season,” director of rugby Solomons said.

“He is a good all-round footballer with pace to burn and we are all delighted that he is staying put."

Humphreys is the 14th member of the current Warriors squad to sign a new contract in the past two months and the second this week after prop Farai Mudariki penned a one-year deal on Monday.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract and to get it sorted early in the season, which gives you that bit of extra security and certainty,” Humphreys said.

“It’s an exciting time to be involved with Warriors.

“We’ve got a lot of exciting talent coming through from the Academy and a nice blend of youth and experienced players.

“We’ve got real depth in the squad and there is strong competition for places in all areas of the team which means that you have to keep pushing yourself and improving.

“We’ve also got a home European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Harlequins to look forward to, we’re going well in the Premiership Rugby Cup and we are looking to push up the Premiership table in an exciting end to the season.”

Humphreys made his Warriors debut against Rotherham Titans in the Greene King IPA Championship in 2014 and ran out for his 50th outing in the Premiership Cup win over Leicester Tigers at Welford Road in November 2018.
