MALVERN Town under 18s swept aside hosts Redditch United 9-0.

The Midland Floodlit Youth League Southern Division leaders were six goals ahead at half-time with Mitch Butterworth bagging a hat-trick.

There was also a hat-trick for Tom Smith with Curtis Smith, Tyler Eley and Matt Brookes netting too.

“I was really pleased with our ball retention from the whole team,” said manager Stewart Watkins.

"This made a real difference and there were impressive displays all over the pitch.

“With us pressing high, Jack Stanton didn’t have a lot to do but kept his concentration and accurate distribution all game.

“It was good to see Curtis get a full 90 minutes under his belt as he continues his recovery and he played well while Harry Fletcher played with good quality and energy and was terrific for us.

“I was delighted to see Mitch and Tom get hat-tricks and a special mention must go to Jack Neal who missed our last game but returned to give a superb overall display in the heart of the midfield.

“We’ll train hard and be ready to go again for our last league game of the season.

“Once again there was a large contingent among the crowd from Malvern and this was fantastic to see.

"I am glad we were able to reward them with football that was great to watch.”

Malvern visit Stourport Swifts next Monday.
