HANLEY Swan were held 1-1 at Southside Star in a Cheltenham League Division One mid-table clash.

They started brightly with Tiago Ribeiro, Kevin Moore, Cathal McTernan and Ash Bloore causing Star problems.

A McTernan diving header was well saved as Hanley's Ben Peplow and Josh Hughes marshalled the midfield.

The visitors created chances before Bloore broke down the right and crossed for Ribeiro to slot home.

The second half saw Star play with more urgency but Hanley's defence of Matt Hoper, Chris Aston, Chris Bunn and Tom Ward held firm.

Hanley created more chances but the home keeper was in good form.

Star eventually equalised when a good save by Dan Rawlings saw the ball fall to the Star forward who squeezed the ball home.

Hanley went in search of the winner and Ribeiro's effort was ruled out for offside.

Chances also fell to Bloore, Hughes, Moore and Ward but they could not find a way past a resolute defence.

Hanley host Bishops Cleeve A on Saturday (2.30pm).

Third-placed Upton Town lost 2-0 at home to leaders Andoversford ahead of travelling to Fintan on Saturday.

Welland won 5-2 at Longlevens Reserves in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One.

David Lawrence and Omar Elmougy bagged braces with James Lush also on target.

Sixth-placed Welland entertain Quedgeley Wanderers on Saturday.
