HANLEY Swan were denied by a late leveller in a 2-2 home draw with Bishops Cleeve A in Cheltenham League Division One.

In an entertaining match despite windy conditions, Hanley started brightly and within 10 minutes were 1-0 up after Kevin Moore latched on to a through-ball and lobbed the advancing keeper.

Minutes later Tiago Ribeiro and Cathal McTernan combined but the latter's effort was well saved.

Cleeve had a good spell with a few chances but Hanley's defence of Matt Hoper, Chris Aston, Chris Bunn and Ash Robinson held firm.

At the other end a diving header from Ash Bloore was just wide.

Hanley played passing football with Ben Peplow and Josh Hughes influential in midfield.

The best effort of the game came from Bloore who turned and hit a left-footed shot from 25 yards only to see it crash off the bar.

The second half saw Hanley play up the slope into the wind.

Good defending, particularly from Aston, and the goalkeeping of Dan Rawlings kept Hanley's lead intact.

McTernan had an effort cleared off the line and Bloore had another good effort well saved.

Injuries to Moore and McTernan forced changes but Hanley still went in search of the second goal.

Cleeve also looked looking for an equaliser and forced more good defending and saves from Rawlings.

Ribeiro had an effort saved and a free-kick from Bloore was cleared off the line.

Hanley finally got their reward when Bunn put the ball in the net following a corner.

But Cleeve broke to pull a goal back and with two minutes to go won a free-kick before equalising with a well-taken headed goal.
