LEDBURY and District Swimming Club enjoyed their best performance in recent years at the Worcester County Championships.

On day one at Wolverhampton, Will Kennedy, 16, picked up Ledbury’s first medal with bronze in the 1,500-metre freestyle.

Days two and three were at Perdiswell, Worcester, when Ollie Jones, 14, won silver in his age group for 200m breaststroke and silver in the 50m freestyle.

Emily Goggins, 10, won bronze in the 10/11 years 50m freestyle.

In the 100m freestyle finals the highlight was Jones going under the minute mark.

He also became junior county champion for the 15/U 100m breaststroke in one minute 12.95 seconds while Molly Schofield took bronze in the 15 years 50m freestyle final.

On days four and five at Wolverhampton, Fin Stephenson, 11, smashed his personal best in the 400m freestyle to claim bronze.

In the 200m breaststroke Goggins pushed all the way to record 3.19.84 which was one of the fastest times in the region so far this year in the age group.

In the 100m individual medley Luke Hopkins demonstrated more of his impressive rise in performance to swim 1.15.37 and take silver.

In the female 50m butterfly finals Goggins took bronze after another gutsy swim and Schofield won silver just 0.01 ahead of third place.

Ledbury's success continued with Jacob Geller winning silver in the gruelling 200m butterfly 12 years age group and Jones gold in the 14 years with a three-second PB.

In the 200m individual medley Goggins took bronze in the 10-11 years age group.

On the final day Goggins won gold in the 100m breaststroke while Jones picked up gold in the 100m butterfly and silver in the 50m butterfly.

Ledbury deputy head coach Chris Treanor said: "This has been an outstanding set of results.

"The swimmers have excelled themselves and enjoyed every moment."
