MALVERN Hills competitor Joe Peplow won the national B6 indoor bowls singles at the Disability Bowls England (DBE) Classified Championships in Nottingham.

The competition, played over two days on a round-robin basis, was fiercely contested but Peplow put in strong consistent performances with the title potentially being decided on his last game against Steve Biggs.

After the last end they were tied 12-12 and the Malvern player's bowl took the shot by one quarter of an inch to win 13-12.

It put him on equal overall points with competition leader Paul Brown and Peplow took the title on shot difference by one point.

He only began competing in DBE competitions this season and previously reached three finals in singles and pairs.
