THE Worcestershire's Lucy Walton won the Worcestershire and Herefordshire Ladies' County Golf Association County Championships at The Vale near Evesham.

Walton reduced her handicap to scratch for the first time as a result.

She had a 4&3 win over club-mate Grace Boulton in the semis and a 3&1 victory in the final over Olivia Williams.

At home, Ursula Pearson teamed up with Fiona Lucas to win the Ping four-ball better-ball round with 42 stableford points.

The next best score came from Cathy Harris and Penny Stevenson with 37.

Marie Willis won the nine-hole stableford with 15 points.

The midweek stableford held from the yellow tees was won with 43 points from John Davison.

Off the whites Derry Hanratty took Division One with 39 points and Steven Field Division Two with 41.

The mixed team travelled to Burghill Valley, where better-ball matchplay was the chosen format, keen to avoid the whitewash of two years ago.

Will Jones and Mary Horrobin and Alan Smith and Joyce Duncan along with newcomers Richard and Denise Codrington all took points in a match that ended 5-3 to Burghill Valley.
