UPTON’S rowers continued their winning ways at Monmouth Regatta with seven crews heading over.

Saturday saw a composite Upton and Ross double of Andrew Scott and Mike Jones win by four-and-a-half lengths on the 1,500-metre course in the masters F/G double sculls over Llandaff.

On Sunday the juniors and their coach raced over a 750m course.

A new double of Archie Tyrell and Matt Burrow, in his first regatta, put up a good fight but lost to their Staines opposition by four lengths.

In the girls’ 13 single sculls Willow Haynes comfortably beat Ross in her heat and final.

The girls’ 18 double of Annie Darwent and Daisy Haynes won their final against Hereford Cathedral School.

Hugh Edney triumphed by half-a-length in the boys’ 12 single sculls over Monmouth.

Coach Stuart Edney and Debbie Thompson won comfortably against a Monmouth crew in the mixed masters B/C doubles.

Tyrell lost out to a strong Monmouth competitor in the J16 single sculls.
