WORCESTER Sixth Form College's women's football team have enjoyed a stellar season.

They went undefeated to win the regional colleges' league and reached the ECFA Women’s Knockout Cup quarter-finals.

Worcester won all their league games apart from one draw when facing tough sides like Hartpury and Hereford Sixth Form.

Despite four away draws out of the five cup games played, including two in Yorkshire, the girls went all the way to the last eight before bowing out at Wyke Sixth Form in Hull.

A college spokesman said an influx of talented first year students along with the dedication from the second year players meant the team's spirit was high for each game.

Their refreshing enthusiasm to train and commitment to away games inspired each other.

During gaps in competitive fixtures friendlies kept the fitness high and maintained momentum.

Coach and member of the PE staff, Alex Flower, said: “Women’s football has been a steadily-growing sport for us as it seems to be nationally and we are always looking to grow our numbers and strengthen the squad.”
