WORCESTER Nomads fell to a second consecutive defeat in Worcestershire League Division One, losing by 66 runs at home to Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social.

Nomads were largely undone by a superb all-round display from visiting skipper Tom Blunt who followed a powerful 97 with a tight spell of off-spin.

Oldswinford took first knock on a flat surface at Bransford and Blunt raced to 50 in just nine overs with the help of wayward bowling.

Only Ben Schiffmann bowled with control and purpose.

Schiffmann removed opener Dom Friel for 11 but Blunt and Tom Slater shared a 126-run second-wicket partnership.

With the score on 162, Steve Emson forced Slater (29) to chip a catch to Dave White at mid-wicket.

Blunt looked set for a deserved century but misjudged a sweep and was trapped lbw by Cameron Blakey (2-57).

Nomads chipped away with Emson (3-45) taking two more wickets.

But Harry Stanier (32) scored freely and lacklustre fielding allowed 15 twos in the last eight overs as Oldswinford posted a challenging 262-7 from 50.

In reply inside the first five overs, Nomads skipper Guy Davies (8) was caught at first slip before Lewis Austin and White added 50 for the second wicket.

But White (30) received the only ball to deviate off the seam all day and saw his off stump go flying.

The score of 65-1 soon became 81-4 with Ollie Ranscombe and Jamie Oliver departing for ducks.

Austin, who was dropped on 16, reached his half-century with a flourish but fell for 57 soon after Joe Laugher (9) was stumped.

Emson was unluckily dismissed lbw for three while Nick Jones batted with a mixture of calmness and aggression for his 52 before he fell trying to force the pace.

With just the tail remaining, third-from-bottom Nomads' day was summed up when a needless run out deprived them of a batting point as they were bowled out for 196 in the 45th over.

Colwall regained top spot in Division One after a 126-run triumph at struggling Droitwich Spa who were bowled out for 130 in reply to 256-7.

Hagley were knocked off the summit after being beaten at home to Bromyard by six wickets as Josh van Rensburg claimed 5-31 to bowl them out for 86.
