UPTON Rowing Club said a special farewell to long-serving coach Ron Paterson.
Paterson, a club member for 21 years, is moving to Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.
They held a midsummer garden party at the home of Kevin and Jo Hammett to say goodbye with around 70 guests ranging from founder members to people from the current learn to row course.
There was a break in the fun and games for a short ceremony so the club could formally thank Paterson for his support over the years.
A club spokesman said: "The successes of the competitive squad over the years are testament to how greatly Ron’s coaching is regarded.
"Among the gifts for Ron from the club was a certificate to mark his award of honorary life membership.
"Ron was invited to name the club’s new double sculling boat Big Ron which he did in the traditional manner by pouring some champagne over its bow."
