LEDBURY and District Swimming Club aces have qualified for prestigious competitions.

Oliver Jones, 13, will swim at the British Summer Championships in Glasgow which starts on Tuesday.

He is ranked in the top 24 nationally of his 13 to 14 year age group in the 50-metre, 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Jones is looking forward to competing alongside the best swimmers in the country and will be joined in Glasgow by his mother Mandy and coach Duncan Loraine.

Then he will head to the Swim England National Summer Meet in Sheffield from July 31 in the 400m and 200m individual medley races and and the 200m butterfly.

Luke Hopkins, 12, became the first Ledbury member to qualify for the Scottish Summer Meet in Edinburgh.

He was fourth in both his 50m and 100m breaststroke heats and then fifth in the finals before coming 11th in his 100m backstroke heat.

Both swimmers are coached by Rob Young and Loraine.

The last swimmer from Ledbury to compete at the British Championships was Tom Stokes in 2008.

The club train at Ledbury Swimming Pool and Malvern Active Sports Centre.
