THERE was plenty of pre-season entertainment at Droitwich's King George's Playing Fields last night.

Hosts Droitwich Spa drew 3-3 with higher-ranked Malvern Town in a warm-up for the campaign ahead.

Town opened the scoring from a corner with a well-guided shot.

Spa equalised not long after through a Matty Hunt header from a corner.

Malvern went back ahead from close range to take a 2-1 lead into half-time.

And they extended their lead shortly after the break before James Lemon's finish from close range brought Droitwich back into it.

Spa's Connor Collins missed a penalty before substitute Lucas Edmunds scored the equaliser.

Malvern co-manager Lee Hooper said: “It was another good run-out for us.

“We had a few more lads get their first minutes of the pre-season under their belts.

“There were a lot of positives to take from the game plus things that we need to take away and work on to put right.

“We had a chat after the game as a group and the lads are well aware that our performance levels can be raised.

“We conceded a late equaliser which was a kick in the teeth but we know that we could have done more going forward before that to seal the win.

“It will be another tough examination for us on Saturday at Boldmere St Michaels (2pm) but we are looking forward to the challenge and playing on their excellent 3G surface once more.”

Spa's next friendly is at Hinton in Herefordshire on Saturday (3pm).
