UPTON Rowing Club crews have enjoyed success at Worcestershire regattas.

In tough conditions at Stourport over the 1,100-metre course, Sally Miles and Debbie Thompson won their women's open double final.

They beat Hollingworth Lake by a length after seeing off the host club comfortably in the semis.

The duo also contested the women's masters B doubles but lost to Southampton and Avon County.

Jo Hammett and Linda Scott won their women's masters E/F doubles race while Andrew Scott lost in the masters G single sculls.

Over the 650m course Hugh Edney saw off his Derwent rival in the J12 singles by two lengths but Stuart Edney and Thompson went down in the mixed doubles.

On the 800m course at Bewdley Regatta, Miles and Thompson lost in the women's open doubles final to Trent after beating Loughborough and Avon County.

But they triumphed in the women's masters B doubles final against Ironbridge by two lengths.

Liz Elston was also successful in the women's masters E/F/G coxed fours with rowers from Bewdley and Birmingham.

There were defeats for Andrew Scott and Pippa Riddle in the mixed masters F doubles, Andrew Scott and Mike Jones from Ross in the masters G composite double and Olly Tomkinson and Mandie Bird after suffering an equipment failure.
