OMBERSLEY climbed two places to second in Birmingham League Premier Division Two after beating Halesowen by 96 runs at Seth Somers Park.

The visitors’ winning total was built around 93 from Liam Gwynne. From the comfort of 147-3, Ombersley faded away to 200 all out as Harry Kitchen took 5-31.

But Halesowen fared even worse. Only Alexei Kervezee (38) reached double figures in a batting horror show with former Worcestershire all-rounder Gareth Andrew taking 4-13 as Halesowen crumbled to 104 all out.

Ombersley are just five points behind new leaders Harborne who defeated Barnards Green by 78 runs.

Harborne’s Swapril Gugale cracked 103 from 74 balls against the Malvern club. Thirties for James Hunt, Tom Arnold, Karan Bharaj and Guriq Randhawa then saw the hosts finish on 303 all out in 47 overs.

Jonathan Dovey (3-40) and Andy Ford (3-47) took three wickets apiece for Green who fell away to 225 all out in reply after Mahaaz Ahmed (68), George Rhodes (37) and Ryan Tongue (35) had seen them to 109-2. Josh Blunt hit 36 late on but George Land (5-47) and Tom Payne (3-30) induced a collapse.

For the second week running two Bromsgrove batsmen recorded centuries. This Saturday it was Alex Milton (111 not out) and Jayden Levitt (108) who achieved the landmark as Bromsgrove smashed bottom club Brockhampton for 328-3 in 50 overs.

The Herefordshire side were all out for 137 in reply, with debutant Freddie Fallows taking 5-40 for Bromsgrove.

Berkswell clinched the Premier Division One title for the third time in four seasons when they cantered to a five-wicket win at Kidderminster.

The leaders reduced Kidderminster to 108-8 before an unbeaten 39 from Charlie Stainforth boosted the hosts to 164 all out in 49 overs.

Ateeq Javid took 3-37 and then top scored with 38 before an unbeaten 33 from Tom Lewis eased Berkswell to the win that handed them the title.

Barnt Green strengthened their hold on third place with a 40-run victory in a high-scoring game against Walsall at Gorway.

Green piled up 311-6 in 50 overs, led by Jacques Banton who hit 107 from 99 balls.

Walsall were 271 all out with three overs remaining.
