MALVERN Vale maintained their 100 per cent start in Cheltenham League Division One with a 2-0 home win over Dowty Dynamos.

Promoted Vale enjoyed plenty of possession but lacked composure in the final third.

Ryan Knowles and Ryan Upson hit shots from distance while Ameer Khan saw his effort deflected wide.

But Vale broke through five minutes before half-time when Khan rounded keeper Clint North to slot home from Jordan Richards' through-ball.

Just two minutes after the break Upson, from just outside the area, flicked the ball up and sent a volley past North for a vital second goal.

Kris Bottrell was denied by North before Vale lost their hold on the game and gave the ball away cheaply.

But they saw the game out with a first clean sheet of the season and host Hanley Swan for the second time this term on Saturday in the Junior Charity Cup second round (1.45pm).

Hanley Swan picked up a first Division One win of the campaign 3-2 at Prestbury Rovers with Kevin Moore (2) and Blake Bishop netting.

Welland Reserves lost 2-1 at Smiths Barometrics Athletic Reserves in Division Two with Theo Ceres on target.

Frederick Harrison and Ashley Prosser scored as Malvern Vale Reserves went down 3-2 at Cheltenham Civil Service Thirds in Division Three.

Meanwhile, Welland and Upton Town both enjoyed Midland League Division Three success.

Alex Neale, Aaron Smith and Jaber Ahmed helped Upton Town see off 10-man hosts Leamington Hibernian 3-1 while Welland beat visitors Birmingham Tigers 3-2.

Welland visit Sutton United on Saturday.
