MALVERN Vale beat visitors Hanley Swan for the second time in a fortnight — this time 2-0 in the Cheltenham Football League's Junior Charity Cup.

Blake Bishop, last year's top scorer Ash Bloore and Aston Gunter returned for Hanley while Vale were without Pep Ienzi, Ryan Upson, Ryan Knowles and Kris Bottrell.

Hanley started brightly in the second-round tie and looked to keep possession.

It seemed to be working until Vale's Edgar Sanha won the ball in the middle and released Ameer Khan who coolly slotted past keeper Dan Rawlings after nine minutes.

The game was fairly end-to-end without either keeper being seriously troubled.

Vale defender Jordan Richards appeared to be unlucky not to win a penalty.

Hanley managed to round keeper Marcin Celmer midway through the second half but could not find the net from a narrow angle.

Vale's Andre Rodrigues was denied by Rawlings before with minutes to go Nick Jones broke down the right and crossed for substitute Valdo Gomes to fire in at the back post.

They travel to Midland League side Droitwich Spa BG under 21s in the Worcestershire FA Minor Cup first round on Saturday (2.30pm).

Hanley Swan return to Division One action at Dowty Dynamos (2.30pm).

Welland lost 3-1 at Sutton United in Midland League Division Three with David Lawrence pulling a goal back in injury-time.

They visit Redditch Borough in the Worcestershire FA Junior Cup first round on Saturday while Upton host Malvern Town Reserves at The Hill Centre (both 2.30pm).
