MALVERN Rugby Club are the early Midlands Two West (South) leaders after starting the season with two wins.

The Spring Lane side triumphed 38-17 at Silhillians to maintain their 100 per cent record in all competitions.

Another powerful display saw Malvern's imposing pack put pressure on at lineouts and in the scrum.

Prop John Clark scored first after fighting off four defenders to get over the line from close range.

Dan Batty kicked the extras before Silhillians hit back with a lineout move making the most of poor defending.

But Malvern's forwards again impressed as the pack edged to the line for number eight Max Richardson to dot down a converted effort.

Further pressure from the visitors told when wing Connor Giggle finished off a slick move in the corner on his 100th appearance.

Silhillians replied by pushing Malvern back but a pass out wide was intercepted by full-back Luke Milton who sprinted forward before feeding wing John Wills for the try.

Batty converted to make it 26-7 at half-time and then back row Lewis Gaiderman came on as a replacement to supply Batty with a try which the fly-half improved on too.

Malvern then put together the passes for Wills to score his second in the corner.

But they lost concentration with Sills pulling back two tries without reply.

As well as the impressive debut of Gaiderman, who has signed from Luctonians, 18-year-old Joe Pritchard also shone for Malvern after a first opportunity at scrum-half.
