THE scalp of another higher-level opponent was claimed by Malvern Town in the Banbury Litho Floodlit Challenge Cup with a 5-3 win at Shrivenham.
Town went ahead on 12 minutes last night when Matt Turner headed in Harry Clark’s cross but Shrivenham soon levelled when a free-kick was turned home from close range.
Malvern regained the lead just past the half-hour mark when Louis Loader lashed the ball into the net following a free-kick.
Matt Fusco converted Clark’s cross and Town made it 4-1 before half-time when Turner scored a penalty after he was hauled down by the keeper who got booked.
Clark extended the lead early in the second period from Loader’s through-ball and Malvern could have scored more in making the third round although the hosts pulled two goals back.
Malvern: Weaver, Hayes, Wickett, Febery, J Sauntson, Loader, Fusco, Craven (Emblem 77), Turner (Reynolds 46), Miller (Moran 80), Clark. Subs not used: Smith, Hunt.
