TWO British swimming legends made a splash at Malvern Active.

Former Olympic competitors Mark Foster and Katy Sexton MBE inspired local enthusiasts during half-term at a one-day training camp.

As part of a five-day UK tour the Mark Foster Swimming Academy team shared their winning techniques with more than 60 aged between nine and 18 from across the area.

Swimmers were put through their paces in and out of the water by the coaching team with many of the drills demonstrated in the water by the ex-Olympians.

Sexton, the first British woman to win a world championship title, said: “It’s always brilliant to be involved with sport at a grassroots level.

"Mark and I believe it’s hugely vital that we encourage further development by passing on our knowledge and experience to the next future champions.

“It was fantastic to once again see so much young local talent and we hope to be back here at Malvern Active soon.”

Most of the swimmers who attended the day already compete at club level or above with representation from the Ledbury and District, Worcester, Pershore and Evesham clubs.
