BRANSFORD Golf Club seniors are celebrating a successful captain’s charity event which produced a healthy profit from entry fees, an auction and raffle.
Fifty-two members braved the elements on a waterlogged course to support captain Andy Falconer’s chosen charity of the Royal British Legion.
The morning was blessed with blues skies and sunshine although it was bitterly cold as 11 holes were played on Armistice Day in a four-ball format.
Neil Holbrow, John Phillips, Bill Bowen and Roger Steade won on countback from Chris Cale, Keith Edgell, Tony Lee and Alan Wallcroft after both teams finished on 69.
The three nearest-the-pins for low handicaps (13th hole), high handicaps (15th) and for all on the 11th were won by Trevor Atkinson, Rob Lawrence and Holbrow.
The auction included several vouchers for golf away days and a spa day voucher for two from the Bank House Hotel.
The event raised £650 for the RBL.
Falconer thanked all who had taken part and several volunteers on clubhouse duty.
