CHELTENHAM Football League Division One leaders Malvern Vale's four-game winning run ended with a 2-1 defeat at fourth-placed Kings.

The visitors started poorly and invited pressure with Kings carving through the defence to be left with a simple finish past the helpless Marcin Celmer on 11 minutes.

Vale continued to struggle although a long-range effort from Jack Lin cannoned back off the bar.

Remy Gordon and Anthony Cakebread created openings down the wings but there was rarely any end product.

Just past the half-hour mark the two combined for the equaliser after a run from defence by Ethan Lambert.

Gordon supplied Cakebread who finished into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between but the second half saw Vale enjoy the bulk of possession.

But Kings broke midway through the second half and Celmer produced a good save only for Jordan Richards to fail to clear the rebound which was netted for the winner.

Vale enjoyed plenty of possession in the last 15 minutes but could not create any chances.

Hanley Swan's visit to Bredon Reserves was postponed.

Vale host Bredon on Saturday and Hanley go to Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves.

Welland Reserves won 3-2 at Andoversford Reserves in Division Two.

Welland won 5-2 at Shipston Excelsior in Midland League Division Three while Upton Town's game with AFC Solihull was called off.

Upton host Central Ajax on Saturday and Welland head to Castle Vale Town.
