THE Worcestershire Golf Club's seniors received their prizes for the season despite the annual Christmas shotgun competition being called off due to rain.

Seniors' captain Keith Hitchcock presented the trophies after a lunch.

David Townsley won the captain’s away day at Ladbrooke Park while John Wright claimed the Tankard Four.

Nigel Teale collected the Yarworth Plate and was runner up in the Tankard Four.  Mick Smith bagged the Tankard Two while Peter Taylor picked up the Corless Goblets and the Tankard three as well as being runner-up in the Tankard Two.

John Williams secured the Fraser Tankards with Phil Bayliss who won the seniors captain’s day challenge for the third successive year.

In-form Hazel Cartledge topped the ladies' three-ball alliance with Pat Rose and Pip Frost on 49 points.

Jen Bishop, Sandra Schofield and Jill Brierly were runners-up with 46, just beating Sue Birch, Diane Keates and Diane Meakin on countback.

Cartledge’s good form meant she won the ladies' winter league with the best accumulated score from one individual stableford and two alliances.

She led the table with 34 points, closely followed by Denise Codrington on 33 and Jill Brierly on 30.
