MALVERN Anglers resumed their winter league matches on Ash pool at Broadheath Fisheries.

Although the weather at the start was mild and dry, conditions deteriorated with heavy rain and an increasingly cold wind.

Results were also disappointing for most as the bigger fish were reluctant to feed in most pegs.

But Mick Cluley who was drawn in a quiet end peg, had a good day when he used pole-fished bread to tempt several big carp for the runaway winning weight of 39lb 14oz.

On the opposite side of the pool Mick Perks used lighter tackle with maggot bait to catch smaller carp and roach for 9-11-0.

Lee Harman used similar tactics to catch a small carp, perch and roach for 6-5.

The remaining weights were made up mainly of small roach and perch.

Ian Goddard got 3-8, Chris Loveridge 2-12, Steve Warren 1-14, John Shaw 1-4, Dave Stretton 1-4, Neil Gardiner 1-1 and Dick Oakley 0-11.
