SENIORS' vice-captain Ron Barker's team enjoyed a 6.5-1.5 victory over outgoing captain Keith Hitchcock's side in the annual match at The Worcestershire Golf Club.

The four-ball better-ball contest was held on a cold but bright day at the Malvern Wells course.

Twenty-one braved soggy conditions for the second ladies' winter roll-up which was reduced to nine holes.

Julie Saunders, Pauline Belsham and Jenny Musson won with 35 points ahead of June Jones, Fiona Lucas and Brenda Lowe on 30.

Third on countback were lady captain Janet Manning-Cox, Helen Lane and Penelope Pullen on 29.

There were more pleasant conditions for a mixed greensomes with Andrew Longley and Cath Francis scoring 41 points to win including three birdies.

Peter and Ursula Pearson got 40 and new members Geoff and Penelope Pullen 39.

The last winter four-ball event decided the final two places for the knockout competition.

Captain-elect Longley and Graham Chatterton won with 45 points in front of Dave Tucker and Brian Kendall on 44 and Neil Bogart and Jim Pawson on 43.

Meanwhile, Alexander Park seniors played a mystery pairs stableford with George Cozens and Phil Manns managing 67 points to win.

Ray Ingram and Ian Caves scored 64, Richard Stevens and Ray Saunders 63 and Jim Bland and Steve Norwood 62.

A seniors stableford went to Paul Gosling (17 handicap) on 40 points ahead of Maurice Embrey (16) on 38 and Cozens (19) on 36.

The club's pairs medal was claimed by Saunders and Carl Tasker with 67 points from Norwood and Stevens in second and Cozens and Gregory Brunt in third on 68.

A seniors team stableford was won by Tim Hollingworth, Roy Caffull, Saunders and Michael Pearce with 88 points on countback from Norwood, Caves, Brennan Standell and Peter Rouse.

Tom Boswell, Ingram and Gosling finished third on 80.
