MALVERN Vale moved within three points of Cheltenham Football League Division One leaders Tewkesbury Town with a 3-0 win at Newton.

But Vale did not break the deadlock at the basement boys until the second half when substitute Ryan Knowles made a quick impact.

He broke down the right and squared for the returning Alex Bradley to score his first Vale goal.

Bradley then had a shot from just outside the box spilled by the keeper with Knowles gobbling up the rebound.

Ben Harrington’s header was then saved by a defender and the resulting penalty was fired home by Jordan Richards to seal the win.

It was Vale's first league win since thrashing Newton 10-0 on December 7 and they host Kings on Saturday looking for revenge for an away loss earlier in the season.

Hanley Swan were held 2-2 at Southside Star with Mark Amott and Aston Gunter on target.

They head to Bishops Cleeve A on Saturday.

Joe Turner scored as Malvern Vale Reserves crashed 8-1 at FC Lakeside Reserves in Division Three.

Welland Reserves offered Feckenham Reserves a walkover in the Worcestershire FA Saturday Minor Cup quarter-finals.

The semi-finals on March 28 will see Sporting Club Inkberrow host Feckenham and Hanley Swan entertain FC Wickhamford.

Meanwhile, Upton Town beat lowly visitors WLV Sport 2-0 to go up to 11th in Midland League Division Three thanks to goals from William Green and Kyle Belmonte.

Fourth-placed Welland went down 3-1 at mid-table Coventrians.

Both sides are in league action on Saturday with Upton at FC Shush and Welland hosting leaders Sutton United.

Jason Wellings scored as Bromyard Town lost 2-1 at Gornal Colts in West Midlands League Division One.

Fifth-from-bottom Town host Wellington Amateurs on Saturday.
