FULL-TIME: MFL Premier Division - Worcester City 0 vs 0 Romulus

Our live feed has now finished.

  • FULL-TIME: City 0 vs 0 Romulus
  • City earned their first point of the season as they battled to a 0-0 draw with Romulus at Claines Lane on Wednesday evening.
  • The draw takes City off the bottom of the league and into 15th but it was a game in which they dominated for large parts and possibly could have taken more from.
  • Romulus finished the better side and had a few chances towards the end of the 90 but in all a draw was a fair reflection of the game.
  • Worcester are yet to score a goal in the Midlands Football League Premier Division after three games and that was the telling factor on what was an otherwise decent performance.
  • It was a bright start from the hosts, who had the advantage of the slope in the first-half and despite controlling possession well and moving it nicely they were unable to capitalise.
  • They had a number of half chances through the likes of Dave Reynolds and Sean Brain but nothing forced Roms 'keeper Josh Benton into a significant save.
  • And it was in fact Romulus who had the best chance of the game on the 33rd minute when midfielder Chad Degville-Cross blazed over from five yards out with the goal gaping following a good run and cut-back from the lively Umar Zaman.
  • The second-half saw very little goalmouth action until the final ten minutes when the away side started to cause problems for the City back four.
  • Substitute Alfie Bloomer stood out when he came on for Romulus and he twice went close to stealing it but his efforts were off target.
  • And then in the final minute of the game forward Kieron Clarke fizzed a shot at goal and a deflection off captain Craig Jones looked to be taking it into the bottom corner but it evaded the post by a whisker and City breathed a huge sigh of relief.
  • Both sides had to settle for a point and now City look forward to playing the current leaders Sporting Khalsa away from home on Saturday.
