Ledbury Town returned to winning ways last Friday as they cruised past Ludlow Town Colts to stay top of the Herefordshire Football League Premier Division table.

Having dropped points for the first time this season the Friday before at home to Kington Town in the 2-2 draw, Ledbury responded in the best way possible as goals from Tom Boyle, Josh Burns, Joel Skyers and James Kenny sealed a routine 4-0 win.

Manager Ian Merrick continues to want more from his side despite their near perfect start to the season.

"We played well in patches; a pleasing result with a good scoreline," he said.

"We kept a clean sheet with four different goalscorers, and it was great to again be playing in front of a good crowd under the floodlights."

The result keeps Ledbury top of the table by four points ahead of their mouthwatering clash with second placed Hereford Pegasus Reserves this weekend.

Pegasus' second-string are four points off Ledbury but do have a game in hand and a win would put them back in the driving seat for top spot.

Merrick and his side have built a competitive rivalry with Pegasus in recent seasons and will be looking to avenge the cup final defeat from last season this Saturday (2:30PM kick-off).

"We’ve got a big week next week with three games in seven days, Saturday, Wednesday and Saturday," he added.

"We know what Hereford Pegasus are all about, we’ve been rivals now for the last season and a bit.

"They’re a quality side and will push us all the way, but we’ve got to go over there and play our game, set the approach right, and hopefully come away with a positive result."
