Ledbury Town were held by bottom of the league and previously pointless Gloucester City U21s as they dropped valuable points in their bid for the Herefordshire Football league Premier title on Wednesday evening.

Ledbury had laboured in the first-half but still held a 2-0 lead at the break thanks to goals from Ryan Pugh and Tom Boyle.

But the basement boys fought hard in the second-half and pulled one back after 60 minutes before drawing level less than 10 minutes later.

Ledbury remain top of the league but will see their eight point lead cut into by Hereford Pegasus Reserves as they have a game in hand on the league leaders.

The strange and totally unexpected result came off the back of a brilliant 1-0 win over Pegasus Reserves, a result that gave them a healthy buffer at the summit of the table.

Tom Boyle was again on the scoresheet as his incredible free-kick proved the difference in the top of the table clash.

It had been a game of few chances until the second-half but it took until the 77th minute for the deadlock to be broken in sublime fashion by Boyle, who converted with aplomb from distance to give the travelling Ledbury supporters a moment to cherish.

But Ledbury's draw with Gloucester City on Wednesday meant they were unable to stretch their lead further and may instead see that gap reduced to five points if Pegasus can take advantage.
