Ledbury Town were again made to work for victory last weekend as they came from behind to beat Fownhope to go eleven points clear at the top of the Herefordshire Football League Premier Division.

Joe Speake handed the hosts a shock lead in the 21st minute but Tom Boyle's penalty five minutes later brought Ledbury level.

Boyle and Ben Febery went on to score from two excellent corner balls delivered within three minutes of each other shortly into the second half to make it 3-1.

Elliot Jones scored a consolation goal for Fownhope later in the half but Ledbury were able to see the game out for another three points.

Ledbury have now won 11 of their 13 league matches and have a big cushion at the top.

Hereford Pegasus Reserves do have two games in hand in second place, however, so keeping the three points rolling will continue to add pressure on them to pick up wins at the same time.

Elsewhere, the Ledbury Reserves slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Ewyas Harold at the Recreation Ground.

The hosts were wanting to keep in touch at the top of Division One and they proved too strong for Ledbury, who scored through Dave Preece.

"It was disappointing really going 2-0 down, with individual mistakes costing us yet again," said manager David Butcher.

"We pulled a goal back and were the better team for the last thirty minutes, even if we just couldn’t seem to find the equaliser.

"We have a two-week break now however, so we are going to use it to regroup and hopefully come back stronger."
