Ledbury Town were knocked out of the Herefordshire FA County Challenge Cup as they were dealt their first defeat of the season by Hereford Pegasus in a fiery affair.

Pegasus played over an hour with nine men, Ledbury with 10, after three straight red cards were handed out following a brawl in front of the dugouts in the first-half.

That happened shortly after Pegasus, two levels above Ledbury, took the lead through Carlos Moreira's 20-yard strike in the 23rd minute.

Pegasus’ Moreira and Sam Pearson, as well as Ledbury’s captain Joel Skyers, were then all sent off after a lengthy stoppage following some fisticuffs on the pitch after the whistle.

Tom Boyle had a number of golden opportunities to equalise towards half-time but the score remained at 1-0 heading into the break.

Ledbury continued to push after the restart and Boyle almost scored via a cheeky backheel, but it went just wide of the post.

The hosts then had a wonderful chance to level matters when a corner from the left found the head of Ryan Pugh, but his effort on goal thundered back off the upright before Dale Taylor fired the rebound wide.

Ledbury could not find that illusive goal and they were punished at the other end with twenty minutes to play as Cox applied the finishing touches to a free-flowing counter-attack.

Plenty of huff and puff from Ledbury but in the end they came up short and Pegasus progressed to the quarter-finals.
