LEDBURY Town maintained their place at the summit of the Herefordshire Premier with a goal-less draw against Sporting Club Inkberrow.

Ledbury were pushed all the way by their visitors on Friday evening in the bitterly cold early-December conditions and the fact Ledbury’s keeper Alex Goode was man of the match tells the story of the game.

The shot stopper produced a fine display to keep Inkberrow out in the final ten minutes after the visitors had stifled Ledbury for 80 minutes of the match.

The point means Ledbury are still top with a considerable gap back to second place in the table but with no fewer than five games still in hand over Ledbury, fourth-placed Inkberrow remain a considerable threat to the top of the table going into the new year.

Ian Merrick’s men visit tenth placed Holme Lacy this Saturday before the black and white shirts return home the following weekend with a first encounter of the season against current basement boys Tenbury United.

Elsewhere, it was a great afternoon for Ledbury Reserves as they registered just their second win of the season thanks to a 3-1 victory at Bartestree.

Having not had a league game for almost a month, David Butcher and Harry Powell’s young squad took the lead through Sam Branch before they were pegged back just before the break.

But goals from Kane Bruton and another for Branch secured the three points in the second-half.

Ledbury Swifts were also in action last weekend as they were edged out 3-2 by Dore Valley.
Tom Goodwin and Brad Potter picked up the goals for the Ledbury third string.
