Ledbury return to action this weekend after the Christmas break looking to waste no time in continuing their charge towards the tittle.

Ian Merrick's men sit top of the Herefordshire Football League Premier table, nine points above the rest of the division ahead of their match with Ludlow Town Colts this Saturday (14:30PM KO).

But with a number of teams having games in hand on Ledbury, the table is slightly skewed.

For example, Sporting Club Inkberrow down in fourth are eleven points behind Town but have played four games left and so, win them, they would go top.

They provide the most threat to Merrick's charge heading into the new year but still undefeated, Ledbury remain the team to beat.

Should they win the title, they would be promoted to Step 6 but manager Merrick has ambitions to go even further.

"Ideally, we want to get the club back at Step 5 playing it’s local derbies against Malvern and Westfields for example.

"We want to be playing first teams but let’s get the first part of the job done and that's promotion from the Herefordshire league."

Ledbury have not been a million miles away from perfection in the 2022/23 campaign in terms of results, only dropping six points (three draws).

But dropping points against sides in the bottom half of the table will be something Merrick will want to see eradicated.

"The message hasn’t changed all season to be fair," he added.

"We will take each game as it comes and make sure we are hardest working team in the league. If we apply ourselves our qualities should see us through."
