Ledbury Town's unbeaten start to the 2022/23 season came to an abrupt halt last weekend as a second-half capitulation saw them lose 4-1 at Ludlow Town Colts.

Ledbury started slowly but took the lead just after the half-hour mark when new signing Simon Craddock produced the scoring touch after a brilliant ball from Tom Boyle.

But the rest of the game, played out in horrible conditions, got progressively worse for Ledbury after the break.

Two goals in quick succession from Ludlow's Sam Thomas and Luke Hicks turned the game on its head before Thomas' second and Jabez Smith's effort three minutes from time wrapped up a shock win for the hosts.

The defeat does not change much for Ledbury in terms of the Herefordshire Football League Premier table, as they stay top, but their seemingly simple title charge has become that little more complex.

Ludlow are six points behind Ledbury but have two games in hand and with them being on a seven-match winning run, you would think they will soon catch up with Ian Merrick's men.

The other threat comes from Sporting Club Inkberrow, who have a slightly ridiculous five games in hand on Ledbury, with 11 points to make up.

Those sides have to still go and win those games but Ledbury are now very much in a fight for the title and will need to show a substantial response when they return to action in two weeks time.

Ledbury have to wait until January 21 for their next game, when they host old rivals Hereford Pegasus Reserves at New Street.
