Ledbury Town's gap at the top of the Herefordshire Football League Premier has been cut down to a single point ahead of this weekend's fixtures.

Town's game at Coppertops last Saturday was cancelled after their opponents were unable to raise a team.

Whilst Ledbury were sitting out of the weekend's action, second-placed Hereford Pegasus Reserves beat Westfields Development 3-2 to go within a single point of the league leaders.

Ledbury will be hoping to return to the pitch this weekend when they make the trip to mid-table Wellington Rangers.

The likes of Ludlow Town Colts and Sporting Club Inkberrow remain hot on the top two's heels and Ian Merrick's Ledbury side are now very much in a title race.

But whilst the first team were denied a fixture, the Reserves were in action in the Herefordshire FA Junior Cup.

And they booked their place in the semi-finals of this season’s competition after a comprehensive 5-0 victory over The Broadleys.

Tom Skittery scored either side of half-time to make it 2-0 before he completed his hat-trick later in the half. Seventeen-year-old Jacob Clueit added a fourth late on.

Despite the thumping win, manager David Butcher was willing to concede that there were aspects his side will need to work on going into the semi-finals:

"It was a very slow start from the boys, taking us a good thirty minutes to get things together. We picked things up in the second half however, and that’s when we started to show just what we are capable of," he said.

"Hopefully we can produce some better stuff in the next round."
