LEDBURY Rugby Football Club won 10-0 over four quarters, in the third annual Cotton Cup Contest.
The cup commemorates the passing of former chairman, captain and coach Julian Cotton - who served the club for over 40 years.
The day also raised an impressive £1085 for St Michael's Hospice and Cancer UK, including £240 from the auction of three of Cotton's old shirts.
The crowd of over 500 spectators saw the Ledbury and Bromyard sides compete in a hard-fought battle on an overcast, heavy pitch, with Ledbury ultimately taking victory in what was a close contest.
Playing downhill in the first half, Bromyard provided the early pressure. They pinned Ledbury into their own half and delivered wave after wave of early attacking play.
The Ledbury defence held strong throughout the early pressure and was able to keep Bromyard from going ahead.
Following some brief breaks for John Parker and Jonny Whitting, Ledbury looked to threaten more.
They went ahead 20 minutes in. Jonny Whitting broke clear, and with some strong attacking play, put through Luke Clarke to beat his man and touch down for a try.
Going down further invigorated the Bromyard side, who were battling hard for every scrap in the game, but were unable to turn their fighting spirit into anything tangible towards the score line.
Ledbury went further ahead when Carter latched onto a chip kick from Rayfield, to find himself free and touch down - increasing his sides advantage to 10-0.
The second half switch saw the conditions worsen for both sides, however Ledbury dealt with the heavy muddy pitch more aptly, and continued their strong defensive showing - not allowing Bromyard any opportunity to get back in the game.
Cam Hunter went dangerously close to scoring, but was pushed into touch mere metres from the touchline.
Ledbury grew into the game even further as the game progressed, however the last ten minutes saw a Bromyard revival, as the trailing side threw everything at the game in their bid to get back into it in the dying minutes.
Ledbury successfully held strong and walked away as victors.
Next Saturday (January 4) sees Ledbury play away to a struggling Hereford side, which they convincingly beat in the reverse fixture.
