IAN Merrick is aiming for his side to win ten of their remaining 13 games this season, to put pressure on the sides sat in the top six of the Herefordshire ZZOOMM Premier League.

They will kick off the second half of their season this Friday (January 24) against Hereford Pegasus' Development side.

Merrick's side have been forced to take a huge break in fixtures, with their last game coming over a month ago against Bromyard Town.

"Massively frustrating, obviously we haven’t played since the 21st of December, so any momentum we built has kind of disappeared now," said Merrick.

"It has been over a month now. We tried to get a friendly in but no luck, we had a game and then unfortunately our opponents dropped out, so we have trained this week. We had a good turn out at training, the lads have trained well.

"But that doesn’t replicate game time so it is very difficult, so I expect the first 20, 25 minutes on Friday will be very difficult. It is very hard to replicate game experience when you are only training and keeping yourselves together."

Their opposition for Friday have not suffered the same fate, with their all-weather pitches meaning they have already played twice in the New Year.

"They will be ahead of us for sure, in terms of match sharpness and minutes in the bank they will be ahead of us," he said.

"We will have a full bench, and luckily in the league we are playing in you can roll on and roll off subs, so if there are lads blowing or struggling we can get other lads on and rotate.

"We will have to make sure our bench is strong, and make sure those lads on the bench are ready to play and get involved."

Hereford Peagasus provide stern opposition for Merrick's side - sat seventh in the league, four points above Ledbury, having played twice more than Town.

"It will be a tough game, but our objective – especially at home because we had a great home record when I was previously in charge – is to attack and score goals," he said. "We will be looking to play on the front foot and looking to win the game, no doubt.

"They are ahead of us in terms of match sharpness, but we know our lads will be ready and looking to get three points."

With 13 games remaining in the season, Merrick has lofty ambitions for the remainder of his side's campaign.

He said: "We have got 13 games left – we are just over half way.

"I think if we can win ten of those last 13 games, I would be happy. If we could go undefeated that would be great, I don’t know how realistic that is, but certainly if we can win ten of those games and really put pressure on the top six teams, I would be very pleased with that."
