LEDBURY Cricket Club are gearing up for their 2025 season, which will begin in mid-April.
The side's season begins on Saturday, April 12 when they kick off their campaign with a pre-season friendly against Goodrich Cricket Club.
They are looking to build on what was a very promising summer in 2024, which saw great success for both of the club's senior sides.
The First XI narrowly missed out on promotion in 2024 but nonetheless had an excellent season with promising team performances and some superb individual batting and bowling from new faces to the club.
The side will be captained by Josh Evans once more, and will look forward to another season of challenging games, against teams in a newly created Worcestershire Division 7 league.
Meanwhile, the Second XI I had a superb summer and gained promotion to Worcestershire’s Division 8 League. This season, the team will be captained by Rhys Gunter and they will look to build on their excellent development with a mixture of youth and experienced cricketers.
Senior training sessions for both sides will take place on Wednesday evening’s throughout the summer from 6pm at Ledbury CC’s Orlham Lane ground, led by the new club coach, Owen Collingbourne. The first outdoor session will take place on Wednesday, April 9,
Ledbury CC also hosts a thriving junior section on a Friday evening, led by Stuart Evans. The club will once again be running the ECB All Stars and Dynamos junior programmes. Registration for junior players will be on Friday, April 25 from 6.30pm at the Orlham Lane ground and junior training sessions will then begin on Friday, May 2, also from 6.30pm.
The friendly game against Goodrich will be an opportunity for senior players to come and sign on throughout the afternoon.
The bar will be open, and as long as the weather is kind, a BBQ will be lit. Ledbury CC is always welcoming of new players and would encourage anyone new to the area to come to the ground during the afternoon to have a chat and find out more about membership details or just to watch some cricket.
