Ledbury CC showcased remarkable resilience to secure a thrilling victory over Fownhope Strollers in a nail-biting encounter.
Captain Josh Evans won the toss and opted to bowl first, deploying a strong bowling attack bolstered by returning senior players.
Jack Trattel and Duncan Bell opened the bowling but faced a determined Fownhope batting line-up.
Trattel bowled exceptionally well, conceding only 30 runs in his nine overs, yet the breakthrough eluded him and Bell early on.
The first wicket came courtesy of a sharp caught and bowled by Evans, but Fownhope continued to build their innings, frustrating the home side's attack.
Vicky Evans then stepped up, claiming two crucial wickets to regain some control.
Duncan Bell returned to claim the vital wicket of Richard Lerego, who scored a commendable 91 runs, while David Nash added to the tally by taking a couple of wickets towards the end of the innings.
Fownhope finished their 45 overs with a competitive total of 266 runs, losing seven wickets in the process.
Chasing down the target on a fast outfield with small boundaries, Ledbury felt confident but knew they had to work hard.
The opening pair of Evans and Nick Gibbons provided a solid start, putting on 81 runs for the first wicket.
Evans was bowled for 38, bringing Tom Bowring to the crease.
Gibbons followed soon after, departing for 31, which left Ledbury needing to accelerate their scoring with two new batsmen at the crease.
Jack Trattel fell for 14, while Bowring was caught at square leg for 28.
At 131 for four, the pressure mounted as Ledbury still required 105 runs.
However, the middle-order duo of David Nash and Jez Skinner had other plans, forming a brilliant partnership that added 100 runs to the total.
Nash played an intelligent innings, scoring 47 runs with a mix of attacking shots, while Skinner contributed 50 runs, showcasing his class with elegant strokes and quick running between the wickets.
As the pitch began to deteriorate, both were unfortunate to be bowled, leaving Ledbury at 241 for seven with just under five overs remaining.
In a tense finale, Jack Cambridge seized control alongside the experienced Richard Orders, guiding the team to victory.
Cambridge's explosive batting saw him score 20 runs off just 16 balls, including a six that effectively sealed the win.
The superb batting performance from Ledbury and the character shown by the team made this one of their best displays of the season.
The first XI will look to continue their winning momentum this weekend as they host Malvern CC, aiming for a fourth consecutive victory.
