BROMYARD’S scorching run of Worcestershire League Division One form continued with a six-wicket victory over third-placed Pershore.

The Herefordshire side moved up to fourth in the table as Will Yarnold (4-49) and Dinusha Fernando (2-32) were the pick of the attack in dismissing the hosts for 190.

Ashley Bullock (69 not out) and Ryan Tongue (57) led the response with an opening stand of 109 and Fernando hastened the victory charge with 41 off just 23 balls.

Pershore skipper Chris Ridings lost the toss and his side were asked to take first knock on a good wicket.

But all of the Worcestershire outfit’s top order, after getting in, failed to produce a substantial score.

Ridings came to the wicket on 88-4 and his steady 44no gave the innings substance.

Yarnold caused problems for the lower order as he took four wickets and Ridings ran out of partners.

In reply, the visitors found few demons in the wicket as the reliable Bullock and Tongue laid the foundations before Fernando stepped in.

Pershore took three quick wickets but Bullock held firm to give Bromyard a valuable 20 points in the title race.

  • Barnards Green thirds sentenced West Malvern to a return to the bottom of the Division Four table after beating their local rivals by 31 runs.

Chris Hill’s late 58no proved crucial in Green’s 264-7 with opener Euan Wilson adding 48 and Monzur Ahmed 32.

The hosts were given a helping hand in reply by 60 extras, including 27 wides, but were dismissed for 233 inside 45 overs.

Alex Hall (46) and Glenn Collins (34) top scored, while Matthew Brookes (4-55) and Jez Clarke (3-32) produced vital wicket-taking spells.

  • Hanley Castle and Upton moved up to third in Division Five with a six-wicket home success over Hallow.

Chris Duckworth claimed 5- 49 as Hallow crumbled for 116 in 23.4 overs before Barton Mathews, who earlier took 3-19, led the successful reply of 117-4 with 27no. Rory Mathews opened with 28.

  • Division Six leaders Canon Frome’s high-scoring batsman again prospered in their 108-run triumph over Highley.

Andy Rogers led the way with 129 in their giant 320-9, while one of the previous week’s centurions, Nicko Evans, returned 5-44 to dismiss their opponents for 212.
