LEDBURY Rugby Club will kick off their 2025 campaign against Whitchurch, following the cancellation of their match with Hereford last Saturday (January 4).
Their most recent game was their victory in the third annual Cotton Cup Contest.
In the Cotton Cup, the side won 10-0 in less than ideal conditions. Battling through the mud and the fog, a pair of tries were enough to see the side over the line to claim victory in front of over 500 spectators.
On the day, £1085 was also raised for St Michael's Hospice and Cancer UK.
The team have not competed in league action since Saturday, December 21, where they narrowly triumphed over fourth-placed Edwardians 13-8.
It was an impressive result for the side, pulling off an underdog victory against one of the division's top teams - a performance they will look to emulate throughout their 2025 campaign.
Following the victory, the side sit ninth in the table - well placed above Malvern, Whitchurch and Hereford.
Their opposition - Whitchurch - will have the prospect of relegation weighing even heavier on their minds than Ledbury. They currently sit in 11th position in a table of 12, and have won just once in their last eight league fixtures.
The win came in their most recent game, against fellow drop candidates, Malvern Rugby Club.
A dominating start to 2025, the Whitchurch triumphed 41-12 against the side sat just above them in the table.
With their recent win fresh in their minds, Whitchurch will provide stern opposition for Ledbury - especially given the fact that Whitchurch beat the side 17-12 in the reverse fixture, in early October.
The win was only one of four that Whitchurch have picked up in the league this season.
A win would continue Ledbury's recent upturn of form - making it three successive wins in all competitions, and four wins in their last five matches.
Ledbury's 2025 campaign will kick off on Saturday, January 11.
