Personal Overview - Has a career background in business, working in finance, marketing and business operations, most recently with his own local Chartered Accountancy practice. Has been involved locally campaigning on improving broadband internet access, as well as for tighter planning controls over phone mast locations. During the 2001 Parliament, he also opposed the Government's Animal Health Bill (produced in the wake of the Foot and Mouth farming crisis). Remained on the back benches early in the 2005 parliament, gaining a Select Committee membership, before joining the Opposition Front Bench in the summer of 2007 and entering Government as a junior Minister in May 2010. Achieved promotion to Minister of State level at the 2012 Government reshuffle.

Personal Overview - Former Conservative Peer who defected to the UK Independence party successfully gained election to the European Parliament at the 2009 elections. From a background in accountancy, he has worked in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates and US. A former Hereditary Peer, he lost his seat in the House of Lords in November 1999 in the Lords reforms of that year. Having reinvented himself as a UK Independence member he has the opportunity to use his accountancy skills to highlight any financial issues within the EU.
