A “VERY FESTIVE” Food Festival went down well in Kington last weekend, with 70 local producers showcasing a wide range of delicious goods.

Real ale and cheese tasting competitions got the crowds involved, while a combination of street musicians and choirs added to the festive atmosphere in the town.

Organiser Pam Peek said it was an excellent day for Kington.

“The sun shone and visitors flocked to the huge variety of food and drink producers," she added.

“There was a great atmosphere, thanks to the street musicians and many choirs – it had a very festive feel.”

It was the 10th anniversary for the popular festival – which is subsidised by Kington Chamber of Trade – and saw the biggest participation from stallholders to date.

Coinciding with Small Business Day, Mrs Peek said it was a “fine example” of Herefordshire’s smaller local producers, and the high quality products they offer.

The winner of the cheese challenge took home a celebration cheese cake, worth £175 from GRATE, while Kington's own Real Ale Champion took home an engraved glass tankard supplied by Club Sport.
