NOW arguably the first family of motorbike racing, MotoGP and British Superbike racer Michael Laverty tied the knot on Saturday with Jodi Lee Davies, the sister of Herefordshire’s own World Superbike racer Chaz Davies.
The nuptials were held close to home for the Davies family, held at St Andrew’s Church in Presteigne.
Mr Laverty, from Northern Ireland, was joined at the altar by his brothers John and Eugene – also elite racers in their own rights – as groomsmen.
And they were joined by many more famous faces from the racing fraternity, wishing the couple well.
Jodi’s brother Chaz is one of the best racers ever to come out of area, and in 2011 was named BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year.
He currently sits sixth in the Superbike World Championship – however this year there may some friendly rivalry around the Christmas dinner table, with his new brother-in-law holding the family bragging rights, riding in the top tier of racing, MotoGP.
